“Dragons Den” Winner Umbrolly Hits Streets to Raise Finance

London, UK (PRWEB) August 9, 2006

Umbrolly, winners of episode 1 of BBC2´s “Dragons Den,” has today announced that is having to resort to placing van and street billboard advertisements to raise finance to launch its new Mini Wall Mounted Umbrella Vending Machines, after finding it difficult to raise finance from the city´s institutions.

The campaign (beginning Monday 7th August 2006), which is thought to be the first time that a private company has sought to find investors via mobile adverts in public spaces, will involve ambient media specialist Gorilla Media running a week long ad-van campaign outside London´s square mile tube stations, in the hope that they might find the angel investors they need from the general public.

Umbrolly is hoping to raise between 100,00GBP and 300,000GBP from the public, and will use the funds raised to purchase, and install its vending machines within Rail Stations, Shopping Centres, Bars, and Office Buildings across the UK.

Managing Director, Charles Ejogo, said, “The general public have always backed our business ever since it appeared on ‘Dragons Den,’ and with investments as little as 10,000GBP being accepted, we hope that they will see this as a great opportunity to invest in a unique business.”

The ad-vans will operate throughout the square mile between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day this week, parking outside stations such as Moorgate, Liverpool St, and Fenchurch St, during the morning and evening rush hours, where Mr Ejogo hopes the 6metre by 3metre mobile adverts will catch the attention of those interested in investing in a growing business.

Ejogo added, “Since the dragons pulled out last year, we have found it increasingly difficult to raise the amount of capital required to grow the business, as it is simply too large for friends and families, but too small for the banks and venture capital firms“.

“Our adverts are as much a last attempt to find investment for our own business, which will otherwise collapse, but also an attempt to highlight the lack of options available to small high growth business´ seeking investment in the UK today.”

You may have not intended to do so, but I think you have managed to express the state of mind that a lot of people are in. The sense of wanting to help, but not knowing how or where, is something a lot of us are going through.
